Watch Out For The "Thursday" Virus
The Word 97 virus attacks the normal.dot file. What's scary is the virus is what is known as a "sleeper" virus. Users won't know they are infected until December 13, 1999 when the virus will attempt to delete all files on a user's "C" drive.
Users in London first detected the virus. It's now in the U.S. and joins only three other viruses - Melissa, Chernobyl, and ExplorerZip - to receive a "high risk" rating in the past year.
