AICPA names recipients of 2007 Public Service Award
Olivia Kirtley, chair of the AICPA Awards Committee, presented both awards last week at the Spring meeting of the Institute's governing Council in Amelia Island, FL.
Shmerling, chairman of Choice Food Group, Inc., has served on the boards of prominent state and local organizations, including the Tennessee Performing Arts Center and the Tennessee Society of CPAs. He is a founder and Chairman of Abe's Garden, a not-for-profit organization developing an Alzheimer's and dementia facility in Nashville, Tenn. He currently serves on the boards of Fisk University, Renewal House, The Hermitage, Abe's Garden, Monroe Carell Children's Hospital at Vanderbilt University, Nashville Alliance for Public Education, United Way of Metropolitan Nashville, and Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

Volunteerism is a key component of the performance evaluation for each shareholder and is strongly encouraged among all employees. The firm has supported the Greater Green Bay Women's Fund, United Way of Waukesha County, Green Bay Habitat for Humanity, the Greater Milwaukee Area United Way, McKey Christmas Club, and Junior Achievement among many others.
For the past several years, Schenck has sponsored a major fundraiser for Children's Hospital and Health System, the only hospital in Wisconsin dedicated to the care and treatment of children.
