Happy Birthday Internet!
So, even at a hearty 30 years old, the Internet has a long way to go to adulthood. Currently, many people don’t see it as a “way of life.” But will that change?
According to Vincent Cerf, co-inventor of the computer networking protocol TCP/IP, in the future “many people will use the Net without knowing it.” He suggests that cars and appliances will be online using the Net without the owner’s knowledge.
Designer and developer of the first generation of the Internet, Lawrence G. Roberts, also thinks the Internet is headed toward a wireless mode. He thinks radios and phones will become more like Internet devices.
