Melissa-like Worm Discovered

Computer Associates International [1] announced that a new worm-type of virus [2]. has popped up in the Netherlands. The worm is named “Badass.”

As with other global viruses, it’s only a matter of time before it reaches the U.S. This worm is similar to the devastating Melissa virus [3]. It can overload email servers and does this by using Microsoft Outlook to send emails to all the users in the victim’s Outlook address book.

The email comes to the victim with a message written in Dutch that says, “This is sort of funny!” The attachment is the badass.exe file. When the user clicks on the attachment, obscene material pops on the screen with a “yes” and “no” button.

If you or anyone in your firm receives a similar email, delete the file immediately.
