MilePoint.com [1] has teamed up with several major airlines and some online retailers to initiate an exchange program – miles for merchandise.

Participating airlines include (so far): Delta, Northwest, US Airways, Continental, America West, and TWA. Also participating is Hilton HHonors Worldwide which currently participates in the frequent flyer miles program. Participating vendors include (so far): Amazon.com and Skymall.

The site [1] will begin processing transactions in October and flyers will be able to exchange accumulated frequent flyer miles for gift certificates that can be used for online purchases. Vendors are agreeing to allow 10% to 25% of a purchase to be made with a flyer gift certificate.
