Michigan Accounting Blitz Sends Government Back to School
"We're delighted to provide this service to others through the MACPA Accounting Blitz ," said Thomas McTavish, CPA, Auditor General of the State of Michigan. "Teaching the Gardner School students about business and economic principles strengthens our state today as they learn and tomorrow as they enter the world of work."
McTavish serves as a volunteer on the board of directors of the MACPA. Also volunteering in the Blitz are staff members from the Lansing accounting firm The Rehmann Group.
"CPAs lead the way through volunteerism like the MACPA Accounting Blitz at Lansing's Gardner Middle School," said Peggy Dzierzawski, president and CEO, the MACPA. "When business, industry and government join forces through volunteerism we're investing in our youth and our state's future."
This marks the fifth year the accounting profession has come together to teach the economics of life to young people. Last year, nearly 13,000 students were served by MACPA volunteers in schools throughout Michigan.
