New York accounting firms merge

ERE LLP, a full-service public accounting firm with offices in Manhattan and Westchester, announced that Goldman and Company has combined their practice with ERE, effective June 1. With this merger, two attorneys joined ERE as principals: Lewis A. Goldman and Melissa Goldman. Their experience as lawyers brings a new dimension to ERE’s International Tax and Private Client Services group, led by Jack Brister, which serves high net-worth clients with complex foreign trust and estate issues. Lewis has worked for over 40 years as a tax attorney, CPA, and a business consultant. Melissa has twenty years of experience as an attorney, and they both continue to practice tax law, specializing in estates, trusts, and tax controversies.

Lewis A. Goldman has represented many high net-worth clients, running his own Manhattan-based CPA practice for over 30 years. His expertise is in corporate and individual tax planning, estate tax planning, international tax planning, and federal, state and local tax controversies. He offers to U.S. and international investors and businesses practical advice with regard to tax, business, and estate planning matters. The industries he serves include international art dealers, real estate, high net-worth investors, and closely held businesses. Lew studied at New York University Law School, and Brooklyn Law School, where he was editor of the Brooklyn Law Review. He is the recipient of the award for Outstanding Achievement in Uniform CPA Examination. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the American Bar Association.

Melissa Goldman specializes in wealth transfer planning, international tax planning, trust and estate planning, and tax examinations and appeals. She serves closely held businesses, estates and trusts, and private clients. She brings a lawyer's perspective to often complex tax issues. She received her JD from Boston University Law School, where she graduated first in her class. She is a member of the NY State Bar Association and the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, and is also a member of the bar in Connecticut.
