Thomson Reuters kicked off its annual SYNERGY conference for US-based users of its ONESOURCE suite of tax software solutions at the Gaylord Texan Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.
More than 1,400 corporate tax professionals are attending hundreds of educational sessions during the three-day conference. The event is one in a series of ONESOURCE customer conferences taking place around the world this season. Earlier sessions took place in Sydney, Melbourne, and London, and the final event in the series is scheduled for Sao Paulo later this month.
The ONESOURCE platform is the market leader in corporate tax compliance, with solutions addressing income tax, transfer pricing, indirect tax, trust tax, and more.
During the opening session, Brian Peccarelli, president of the Tax & Accounting business of Thomson Reuters, noted the challenge faced by tax professionals as they grapple with the ramifications of increased globalization, regulatory complexity, and government audit activity. "We're committed to simplifying the tax and accounting profession with the most comprehensive global solution to help navigate this hyper-charged environment," Peccarelli told attendees during his opening remarks.
The opening session also featured a lively discussion with political consultants and commentators James Carville and Mary Matalin.
