New River Innovation Announces Release of Beyond415 Guidance

New River Innovation announced October 16, 2012, the release of its new application, Beyond415 Guidance® - a web-based research center for resolving issues after tax filing. The product features searchable guidance covering individual, business, and payroll areas of IRS practice and procedure. Beyond415's team of tax experts writes the system's practical guidance and keeps it up to date as changes happen at the IRS.

"Based on feedback from hundreds of firms, we know that practitioners require a practical and easy-to-navigate research tool for IRS practice and procedure," said Jim Buttonow, CPA, IRS expert and cofounder of New River Innovation. "Instead of sifting through outdated books or searching the Internet, practitioners can find post-filing information in one place. Our goal is to provide authoritative content at a great value to make this research easier for practitioners."

Beyond415 Guidance features an easy-to-use interface and a powerful search tool. The application's guidance is distinctively practical, anticipating practitioners' questions and concerns when it comes to post-filing IRS issues.

Several valuable features set Beyond415 Guidance apart:
  • A visual process map for navigating each issue from beginning to end. Beyond415 breaks each issue down into easily understandable phases and provides best practices and insight into the IRS' internal procedural steps.
  • A glance at how each issue works in practice. Each issue comes with projections for billable hours and complexity, and recommendations for gathering appropriate authorizations, managing engagement types, and compiling IRS account research.
  • A comprehensive IRS notice database. Practitioners can look up a notice and see what happened, what it means for their client, and any applicable next steps to take.
  • Issue-specific guides for gathering all the facts. Our research guides help tax professionals know exactly what questions to ask to get to the point and eliminate back-and-forth with the IRS and their clients.
  • Sample call scripts and document sets for responding to the IRS. Beyond415's model responses and sample documents, including forms, letters, analysis tools, and workpapers, provide concrete examples to guide responses or help staff do more.

Practitioners can stay current with changes in IRS practice and procedure using other features, including:
  • A comprehensive IRS directory with specific IRS contact information, including hotlines and directories for specific code sections and business units at the IRS.
  • Five-Minute Workshops highlighting quick tips and recent changes to IRS practice and procedure areas.
  • Alerts and newsletters on post-filing topics and changes at the IRS.
  • NASBA- and IRS-approved CPE courses on practice and procedure.
  • A private community forum for tax professionals moderated by the Beyond415 research team.

"Beyond415 Guidance users can plan better when facing an IRS issue and provide staff with procedural instruction," Buttonow said. "We want to help practitioners get to the heart of the issue and start addressing it quickly and effectively for their clients."

The research team at Beyond415 is made up of IRS practice and procedure experts. The product tells practitioners what to expect from the IRS, based, in part, on more than 40,000 pages of IRS procedural documentation. The Beyond415 product team examines internal training documents, manuals, procedural guidelines, and compliance efforts disclosed by the IRS and incorporates that information into the system's practical guidance. The Beyond415 team also examines industry best practices to incorporate into the system.

Beyond415 Guidance was officially launched to the profession October 15, 2012. Beyond415 Guidance is offered through trusted providers, such as ADP, CCH, Drake Software, the National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP), and Sage, and directly at www.Beyond415.com.
