Molly Causey, a 22-year old graduate student in accounting at Louisiana State University (LSU), was crowned Miss Louisiana on Saturday. Ms. Causey, in addition to an $8,000 scholarship and about 30 other prizes, will go on to represent Louisiana in the Miss America Pageant.
This was Ms. Causey’s third attempt to wear the Miss Louisiana crown. She entered the pageant as Miss Shreveport. Ms. Causey performed Franz Liszt’s piano solo “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2” to win Friday’s preliminary talent competition.
The Miss America Pageant is traditionally held early in September. After last fall’s low ratings, however, ABC dropped coverage of the national pageant and no new contract or date for this year’s broadcast has been announced, leaving the future of the contest in doubt.
