As part of Ernst & Young LLP's commitment to helping universities prepare their students for a global and inclusive workforce, the firm has announced the winners of the first annual Ernst & Young Inclusive Excellence Awards for Accounting and Business School Faculty. Five faculty members from top business schools were selected for their extraordinary efforts to advance inclusiveness on their campuses.
As economic activity and capital markets are more global and interdependent, the face of corporate leadership is changing and, as a result, companies that embrace diversity and inclusion are positioned to produce better results. Ernst & Young LLP created the Inclusive Excellence Award to recognize the extraordinary efforts of faculty members who are helping to create more diverse learning environments that will ultimately help their students succeed in today's global workforce.
Each winner has been awarded $7500 to use towards efforts to impact and improve inclusiveness and diversity at their school. The award recipients were announced by EY Chairman and CEO, Jim Turley, and Director of Inclusiveness Recruiting, Ken Bouyer, at an Ernst & Young LLP faculty reception during the American Accounting Association's annual meeting in New York City.
Award recipients were selected from more than 260 nominations based on their contribution to inclusiveness on their campus through innovative teaching, research, or program development. The winners were also selected based on their mentorship and support of diverse students and faculty as well as their involvement with under-represented minority students on an individual basis or through diversity-related organizations.
The five winners of this year's Inclusive Excellence Award of Accounting and Business School Faculty include:
· Matthew Anderson, Michigan State University, Associate Professor of Accounting
· Karen Bird, University of Michigan, Lecturer in Accounting, Associate Director of Instructional Development
· Michael Clement, University of Texas at Austin, Associate Professor
· Mark Dawkins, University of Georgia, Associate Dean of Academic Programs
· Cindy van Es, Cornell University, Senior Lecturer
