Well isn't it fitting that we're doing an exercise called Prisoner Squats as we are all imprisoned in our offices this spring? This afternoon break will strengthen your legs and your body core.
Step 1: Stand up, away from your desk, feet shoulder-width apart.
Step 2: Lace your fingertips behind your head, push your chest out, and pull your elbows back.
Step 3: Bend your knees as if you are going to sit down, keeping your abdomen tight and lowering your body so that your thighs are parallel to the floor. Keep your feet flat on the floor and head up. Don't move your knees forward beyond your toes.
Step 4: Squeeze your glutes and push up from your heels as you return to a standing position.
Repeat 20 times.

Do you have a tendency to slump at your desk when you've worked too many hours? If so, you might want to try using a tension band. PostureNOW makes a band that not terribly expensive and seems to be effective. At least it beats sticking a ruler down the back of my shirt, which is what I normally do when I'm working long hours. Anyway, the folks at PostureNOW want to offer a deal on their tension band to busy accountants this spring. If you use the word "TAX" as a coupon code, you can take $6 off the $39.95 purchase price.
Special offer: PostureNOW has provided AccountingWEB with a few of their tension bands to give away to lucky readers. If you contact me with information about how your firm is promoting fitness and wellness during this busy season, I'll send you one of the PostureNOW bands!
