The CPA and advisory firm BKD, LLP, has tapped Regional Managing Partner Ted Dickman as its next CEO, effective Friday, June 1, 2012.
"I'm both humbled and excited to be chosen to continue leading our firm forward into a dynamically changing world," Dickman said. "I hope to build upon the initiatives and industry leadership the firm has developed while also finding additional opportunities for growth."
Dickman will be in charge of nearly 2,000 employees who serve clients in all fifty states and internationally. He has spent the last four years as regional managing partner of BKD's East Region, strategically coordinating operations in Indiana, Kentucky, and Ohio, in addition to serving on the firm's governing board. Prior to that, he was managing partner of offices in Cincinnati and Ohio as well as offices in Indiana - Indianapolis, Bloomington, Fort Wayne, and Merrillville.
"BKD is built on a foundation of integrity, excellence, and an unwavering commitment to providing unmatched client service," Dickman said. "Those are standards we've worked toward for more than eighty-five years, and I look forward to using my experience and passion for this firm to continue those traditions."
BKD's governing board recommended Dickman for the position, and the decision was ratified by the firm's 250 partners.
Dickman succeeds CEO Neal Spencer, who announced in February his decision to step down. During Spencer's five-year tenure, BKD expanded into several markets through acquisition, adding offices in Texas and Mississippi.
"I'm thrilled with the firm's decision to name Ted as our new leader," Spencer said. "With the expertise of our professionals, BKD is in a strong position for continued success. Ted is totally committed to growth, and he has the integrity, experience, and history with our firm to lead BKD into the future."
Dickman entered the public accounting field in 1983 as a tax professional in the firm's Indianapolis office and was elected partner in 1991. He is a 1983 graduate with distinction from Indiana University, Bloomington, with a BS degree in accounting.
