On Thursday, November 30 and Friday, December 1, the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) is presenting their Annual New England Practice Management Conference at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn. The conference will cover a variety of practice management topics, from staff retention and partner compensation, to leadership skills and succession planning. In addition, information technology (IT) guru Roman Kepczyk will be presenting a pre-conference session on Wednesday, November 29.
Conference speakers include:
- Sam Allred, CPA, founder and director of Upstream Academy and a shareholder at Anderson ZurMuehlen & Co., PC in Helena, Montana. Regularly recognized as one of the most influential people in accounting, Allred speaks and writes extensively in the US and abroad, creatively teaching leaders to apply strategic thinking to the critical issues facing their firms. Called a âProactive Consultantâ in a 2000 Pathfinder Profile by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), where he says âYou can't sustain healthy profits in a reactionary consulting mode. My best advice is to institutionalize or standardize your process so you can repeat your successes.â
- August J. Aquila Ph.D., Aquila Global Advisors, LLC. Aquila has his own full service consulting, marketing and training organization dedicated to helping CPAs improve the effectiveness of their practice management and practice development functions. His next book, Compensation as a Strategice Asset: The New Paradigm, with co-author Coral Rice, is due out in 2007. It is being published by the AICPA.
- Jack Park, CPA, Financial Insights. In addition to serving as the Voice of Ohio State Football, Park is a financial consultant and a well respected developer and presenter of financial seminars and workshops. He serves as an adjunct professor of Accounting at Ohio State University and Franklin University, and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the American Society for Training and Development, and the National Speakers Association.
- Roman H. Kepczyk, CPA, president, InfoTech Partners North America, (ITPNA) Inc., is the lead strategist for his firm. Roman carries over 20 years of accounting firm experience, highlighted by 10 years with the CPA firm of Henry & Horne, where he was the partner in charge of the firm's Management Advisory Services and Microcomputer Consulting practice. In October, ITPNA was recognized as one of INSIDE Public Accounting's top most recommended consultants to the accounting profession for the third consecutive year.
