On October 21, 2013, the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) announced Bob Graham, former United States Senator and former Florida Governor, as the recipient of the AICPA Medal of Honor. Senator Graham was presented the award by AICPA Chairman Richard Caturano, CPA, CGMA, at the fall meeting of the AICPA governing Council.
"Senator Graham has served as an ambassador between the CPA profession and the American public, helping the AICPA Board chart the Institute's course and the profession's growth with the needs of all citizens in mind," said Caturano. "In recognition of his dedicated service, the AICPA is pleased to present Senator Graham with the Medal of Honor."
The AICPA Medal of Honor recognizes an individual who is not a CPA whose work has had a significant impact on the profession. The Medal of Honor is the highest AICPA award for a non-CPA.
Senator Graham has served on the AICPA Board of Directors from 2005-2013, sharing his experience and worldview during board deliberations.
In a career dedicated to public service, Senator Graham has served Florida as a state legislator, two-term governor, and a three-term senator.
Senator Graham recently founded the Bob Graham Center for Public Service at his undergraduate alma mater, the University of Florida, as a means of going beyond the classroom and giving students insight into the day-to-day activities that encompass political leadership.
