The local certified public accounting firm of Abeles and Hoffman, P.C. recently announced the addition of Justin Reppy, CPA, to its professional staff.
Reppy joins Abeles and Hoffman as a senior tax manager. He will be providing comprehensive tax and consulting services to the firm's clients, including family partnerships, consolidated groups, S-corporations, privately held businesses, and high-net-worth individuals. Reppy will also assist clients with state and local tax issues and IRS examinations. Prior to joining the firm, he was a health care/tax manager at Clifton Larson Allen for over six years. He received his Master of Science in Accounting with an emphasis in taxation and his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale.
On January 1, 2013, the accounting firm of Burton & Browse merged into Bee, Bergvall & Co. As part of the Crowe Horwath LLP continuing expansion, the firm will soon be welcoming the people of ExtOrg, a Microsoft Dynamics consulting firm specializing in the automotive supplier industry. Crowe Horwath LLP, one of the largest public accounting and consulting firms in the United States, is also purchasing automotive industry-specific intellectual property from ExtOrg. The company's nineteen professionals, including its founder, will be joining Crowe in February.
Established in 2004 in Chicago by Jacob Chacko, ExtOrg has built an established Microsoft Dynamics consulting practice and developed a solution called "Automotive Release Accounting." The solution offers automotive suppliers a way to manage forecasts, orders, releases, and shipments in the automotive supply chain. ExtOrg's Automotive Release software provides all essential features and services required for companies in the automotive industry running on a Microsoft Dynamics AX® platform. Combined, ExtOrg's professionals have more than 100 years of consulting experience. Chacko will be a director at Crowe, based in the firm's Performance Consulting group.

Deloitte & Touche LLP continues to strengthen its regulatory and risk services capabilities with the addition of Mike Fay and Peter Reynolds to its governance, regulatory, and risk strategies (GR&RS) practice. Fay and Reynolds will be part of Deloitte's financial services industry practice, providing risk and compliance services to Deloitte's asset management and banking and securities clients.
Fay, a principal in Deloitte's Boston office, previously served as chief compliance officer for a leading financial services institution. He was responsible for the organization's global compliance strategy as well as leading a worldwide team of compliance professionals. Fay is credited with leading various initiatives to promote the organization's compliance position through the enhancement of risk assessment methodologies and operational practices. Fay is returning to Deloitte, where he previously served thirteen years, including in a leadership role with Deloitte's asset management practice. Fay is a certified bank auditor and certified risk professional.
Reynolds, a director in Deloitte's Parsippany, New Jersey, office, was previously the chief risk officer at Barclays' Wealth Americas and responsible for managing the coverage of risk issues across the region, including operational and credit risks. Previously, Reynolds was chief compliance officer and head of regulatory risk at RBS Americas where he instituted an enterprise-wide compliance program consistent with regulators' expectations and requirements. In addition, Reynolds spent a decade at Citibank holding various risk and regulatory management roles. Reynolds is also an experienced regulator, previously serving as a credit examiner for the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.
Foundation Financial Group has announced the company's participation in the University of North Florida (UNF) job fair. The event will take place during the spring semester in 2013. UNF is a four-year college in Jacksonville, Florida. On Friday, February 1, the job fair will be hosted by UNF in its university center. Foundation Financial Group will be recruiting students majoring in business, economics, finance, and financial services.

KPMG LLP, the US audit, tax, and advisory firm, has announced expansion of its economic and regulatory capabilities in Forensic Services, adding a pair of notable senior economists capable of providing advice and testimony services to clients.
Dr. Richard J. Bergin, a leading financial economist, and Dr. Glenn R. George, a leading energy economist and consultant, have joined the US audit, tax, and advisory firm's Forensic Services as principals in its Dispute Advisory Services network (DAS).
Bergin specializes in assisting companies with economic, financial, and valuation issues related to disputes, investigations, and regulatory scrutiny of their businesses. He has provided expert witness testimony in federal and state court, the International Court of Arbitration, the American Arbitration Association, and has directed numerous engagements involving investigations and enforcement activities by the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodities Futures Trading Commission, state attorneys general, and the Department of Justice.
His focus has been on securities and financial economics, including credit products, foreign exchange, commodities, interest rate, equity, derivative instruments, collateralized mortgage obligations, and other structured financial products. With twenty years' experience, Bergin also held positions at FTI, NERA and McKinsey & Co. He will be based in Boston. Bergin holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Sydney, and earned master's and doctoral degrees in business administration from Harvard Business School.
George will also help expand KPMG's DAS network with new consulting and litigation offerings, serving as an expert testifier and assisting clients with economic issues related to disputes, investigations, litigation, and regulatory scrutiny of their businesses. He has experience providing policy and strategy advice in a variety of industries, including government, financial services, natural gas, petroleum, transportation, renewable resources, nuclear technology, utilities, and power generation, providing a unique resource to energy-sector clients. He will be based in Philadelphia.
George most recently served as a partner at Bates White Economic Consulting, where he led engagements involving the US Departments of Energy, Treasury, and Justice and several major utility companies, equipment vendors, and trading companies. George holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration, both with distinction, from Cornell University. He also earned a PhD in public policy, with a concentration in energy economics, policy, and regulation from Harvard University. He attended the Reactor Engineering School at the US Department of Energy's Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory and is a registered Professional Engineer in the District of Columbia.
Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC (LBMC), Tennessee's largest regional accounting and business consulting firm, has named Gregory E. Erickson, JD, as partner-in-charge of LBMC's Knoxville Tax Division.
In his new role, Erickson will oversee the growing tax practice within the Knoxville office at LBMC, managing the day-to-day practice needs as well directing the division's growth strategy. He practiced law for over a decade and has worked in the accounting industry for the past fifteen years. Both areas of his career have been dedicated to servicing clients in the area of tax planning and compliance. After graduating from Vanderbilt University with bachelor's degrees in economics and English, he earned his JD from the University of Tennessee College of Law.
LBMC has added Clint Fillingim in its Brentwood (Nashville) office.
Fillingim has joined the firm as help desk technician in the Shared Services IT Department where he will join an important team that keeps network systems operational, available, and secure for all LBMC employees. He comes to LBMC from the Escambia County, Florida School Board where he worked as a help desk technician. Originally from Pensacola, Florida, Fillingim is a graduate of Pensacola State College with an AA in business and has a certificate of completion from the Cisco Networking Academy.
The CPA and business advisory firm of Maner Costerisan is pleased to announce that Jeffery Allen, CPA, CGFM, and Brandy Terwilliger, CPA, have been promoted to senior manager.
Allen joined the firm in 2006 after graduating from Western Michigan University with a degree in accounting. He began his career as a staff accountant in the firm's audit department, working mainly with governmental and nonprofit entities. In addition to holding a CPA license, he is also a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM).
A graduate of Albion College, Terwilliger initially worked for Maner Costerisan from 2003-2007 in the tax department. She took a brief hiatus to join the Michigan Department of Treasury as a property tax exemption manager and then rejoined Maner Costerisan in 2012. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the tax arena.
Atlanta-based accounting firm Moore Colson recently announced the hiring of Mike Reynolds as a business assurance senior associate.
Prior to joining Moore Colson, Reynolds was an associate with Chatham Capital in Atlanta where he was responsible for underwriting, legal documentation, and deal negotiations in the debt funding of private equity sponsored transactions. He also monitored nine portfolio companies, including updating financial information, analyzing for key trends, and determining the drivers for those trends. Reynolds is a graduate of Virginia Tech's Pamplin College of Business Blacksburg, Virginia, with a Bachelor of Science in Business with an accounting focus.
Moore Colson recently announced that Evelyn Poulos, CPA, was presented with the Peak Award for her significant contributions to the firm. Evelyn is a senior manager in the firm's Business Assurance practice and a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan, with a BS in business administration.
The Moore Colson Peak Award is given to an individual based on significant contributions to the firm and work performed that is considered above and beyond expectations or something unique that an individual brought to the firm that has made a significant impact. Poulos was awarded the Third Quarter Peak Award due to her ongoing hard work, strong leadership skills, ability to successfully managing multiple jobs, and encouraging others to work diligently on completing engagements.

SuggsJohnson, LLC, a CPA and business consulting firm based in Anderson, South Carolina, will host a public reception to unveil the 2013 South Carolina Migratory Waterfowl Stamp on January 11 at the Anderson Arts Center. In addition to unveiling the 2013 stamp, the reception will feature an exhibition of the original artwork that has appeared on all South Carolina duck stamps since 1981 – the first time the entire collection of paintings has been displayed in a gallery setting.
The January 11 opening reception will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Arts Warehouse and will feature live music, catering with heavy hors d'oeuvres, beer, wine, and soft drinks. Free to Arts Center members, there will be a $10 admission fee to the reception for non-members, with proceeds going to support the Anderson Arts Center. Revenue from duck stamps, posters, and prints benefit conservation and duck propagation programs in South Carolina and Canada.
"This significant collection is on loan from the Department of Natural Resources and the South Carolina State Museum," said Kimberly Spears, executive director of the Anderson Arts Center. "Traditionally, parts of this collection have been displayed at the annual Southeastern Wildlife Exposition in Charleston, but this is the first time the entire collection has been exhibited in a gallery."
The 2013 stamp commemorates the harvesting of the first banded duck in 1910 by Dr. W. Bray at Rocky River in Anderson County, an event instrumental in helping to document duck migration patterns. The bird Dr. Bray shot was of the black duck species, which is featured on the 2013 stamp along with South Carolina's state dog, the Boykin Spaniel. The artist commissioned for the painting is Jim Killen of Owatonna, Minnesota, and is Killen's ninth South Carolina commission. A dedicated conservationist, Killen has been named the Ducks Unlimited International Artist of the Year three times.
The duck stamp exhibition will also feature wildlife art by local artists Juan Brown, B.C. McConnell, Chase Hunter, Dan Fleming, Mark Hoyle, Charlie Jordan, Ron Kennedy, Donnie Hughes, Ronnie Hughes and Amanda Hughes, noted SuggsJohnson principal Gray Suggs in announcing the accounting and consulting firm's sponsorship of the reception.
