Among U.S. workers who use computers on the job, an overwhelming majority (91 percent) believe that their employers provide them with the computers and technical tools they need to do their jobs effectively, according to a new national Hudson technology survey.

Looking for more efficiency gains, nearly a quarter of managers (21 percent), believe that adding more IT staff will enhance productivity, and 49 percent of all workers report training or technology updates will improve their own efficiency, signaling ongoing investment in technology applications and staff.
The Hudson survey illustrates how companies have embraced advancing technology and technology professionals to increase competitiveness," says Kevin Knaul, executive vice president of Hudson's IT & Telecommunications practice. "As technology workers continue to have a strong and positive impact on business productivity, we anticipate that forward-thinking managers will continue investing in the people who improve corporate performance."
Nearly two-thirds (62 percent) of the workforce claim that they receive sufficient technical training to do their job effectively. But they anticipate strong benefits from even more training: more than a quarter of workers (28 percent) name additional training as the technology investment that would do the most to improve their personal productivity. Additionally, 21 percent say that hardware and software upgrades are a key investment.
Hudson polling also indicated that 41 percent of U.S. workers reported their companies have upgraded technology in the last six months. Added Knaul, "Our own experience also shows that there has been a rise in corporate IT spending in the first half of this year to meet pent-up demands. Chief information officers are eager to replace outdated hardware and make their systems more resilient and secure with the help of talented technology professionals."
