SEC releases taxonomy for GAAP financial reportsThe Securities and Exchange Commission's Office of Interactive Disclosure is heralding the release for public comment of computer labels that will help companies make their financial disclosures more useful for investors.
Two new FASB statements will improve convergence The Financial Accounting Standards Board has issued FASB Statements No. 141 (revised 2007), Business Combinations, and No. 160, Noncontrolling Interests in Consolidated Financial Statements. Effective for fiscal years beginning after December 15, 2008, the standards will improve, simplify, and converge internationally the accounting for business combinations and the reporting of noncontrolling interests in consolidated financial statements.
Financial hiring survey shows anticipated increases for 2008 Ten percent of chief financial officers plan to add accounting and finance staff during the first quarter of 2008 and 4 percent anticipate personnel reductions, according to the Robert Half International Financial Hiring Index.
