Accounting film festival - Deloitte recruiting takes to the screen

Deloitte & Touche USA LLP (Deloitte) recently launched the first-ever Deloitte Film Festival, a new and innovative approach to leveraging employee-generated content to bolster Gen Y recruiting activities and drive workforce engagement.



What's a CPA? Accountants take their show to YouTube

Members of the Maryland Association of CPAs have put together a video currently available on YouTube entitled "Defining America's CPAs: Maryland." MACPA hopes the video will help inform people about the role of CPAs in business and attract students to the profession.



Mismatched numbers undermine IRS ability to close tax gap

A report issued by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration indicates that the IRS receives millions of income and wage statements each year that contain mismatched names and identification numbers. According to TIGTA, "These mismatches consequently create opportunities for the income recipients to avoid the scrutiny of the IRS through underreporting income and not filing tax returns."

Rochester-based Bernardi & Russo LLP merges with regional firm
A merger between the Rochester based CPA firm of Bernardi & Russo LLP and regional firm Freed Maxick & Battaglia, CPAs has been announced. The firm will now employ 230 professional and administrative staff across Rochester, Batavia, and Buffalo (headquarters).
