OFFICE PARTY TIPS

It's that time of year for office parties. It might be given as a gesture from the boss in appreciation of employee performance during the year or just held in the spirit of the season, but the same general guidelines apply for having fun without any next day regrets.

If the party is after work, in the office, dress should be appropriate, with some festive, but tasteful additions, such as that tie with the Santa face or a green blouse or red suit or scarf.

Watch the "punch" intake. Alcohol lowers inhibitions and judgment and you have to work with these people come Monday morning. That includes the choice of jokes and language.

This may be the only chance your boss will see you all year and maybe make a mental note on you, so be sure it's a favorable one.

Save the gossip, flirting and shop talk for another place or time, this is not that place, but do take the opportunity to thank co-workers for any help or work done during the year.

The office holiday party is a place to have fun, enjoy the food and drink, mingle with friends and fellow workers, so enjoy.
