NETWORKING TIP: TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE HOLIDAYS |
Networking is the best way to meet other accounting
professionals. Professional associations serving accounting
professionals, such as the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants (AICPA), the Institute of Management Accountants
(IMA), and state CPA societies, offer a calendar full of holiday
events where accounting professionals can meet others from the
profession. Other groups, including accounting associations for
specific specialties, such as the American Accounting Association
(AAA), Association of Government Accountants (AGA), and the
National Association of Small Business Accountants (NASBA), as
well as local Chambers of Commerce, and business organizations,
can also provide opportunities. AccountingWEB reader Brenda
Richter advises "Always be sure to follow up any networking
contact with direct mail providing more information about your
services. Another way to meet CPAs is to sponsor a CPE event."
