BACK-TO-SCHOOL TIP: BEWARE OF BULLYING |
A child is bullied on a playground every seven minutes. No one,
adult or peer, intervenes in 85 percent of these events. And
those figures don't include data on cyber-bullying, which is now
common. According to Derek Randel, former teacher and a parent
coach and lecturer on the subject, being bullied online is
psychologically worse than physical bullying because it
takes place when the victims are alone in their rooms.
Signs that a child may be being bullied include: cuts and
bruises, frequent visits to the school nurse, loss of
possessions, failing to bring friends home and avoiding school
