BACK-UP TIP: DON'T FORGET THE POWER

There are several things to consider before purchasing a back-up power supply. You need to know how much power your computer(s) use and how long you want them to run on using back-up power. Back-power supplies have limited capacity so you may also want to think about what applications and computer systems you can do without. Some back-up power supplies, such as laptop batteries and some uninterruptible power supply (UPS) devices, store power, usually from the existing electrical system or a building or vehicle, during use. Others, such as generators, may require fuel to operate.
