COMMUNICATION TIP: KEEP AN OPEN MIND |
Do you know what your employees are thinking? Have you asked them
lately what they think about the firm, major issues, challenges
or initiatives currently underway, or even just about their job?
If not, it may be time to open the lines of communication.
Open communication does not require that you agree with
everything you hear, just that you listen to other points of view
and not dismiss them out of hand. Take the time to consider what
employees have to say, even, or perhaps especially, if your first
instinct is to ignore it. You may not ever come around to their
way of thinking, but just by soliciting their input and taking
their opinions under advisement, you are encouraging employees to
become involved with the firm. Keeping an open mind also allows
you to change your mind and act on better ideas and information
when it becomes available.
