BEWARE OF PREMATURE OPINIONS
When you think you've got a problem with an engagement, your natural tendency is to grab the file and go through it with a fine tooth comb to dot the "i's" and cross the "t's". When, not if, you get caught changing workpapers, it might be considered obstruction of justice (can you say Arthur Andersen?). And, if you have to "clean up" the file before you give copies to the opposing side, that means you weren't done with the engagement. So if you weren't done, how did you issue an opinion?
