FRAUD TIP: SHRINKAGE OR STOLEN?

CPAs make fraud/theft/abuse worse by burying it in the functional accounts. How? By calling stolen inventory "shrinkage". The shirts and dresses in the clothing store didn't get smaller. They were stolen by either employees or customers. Burying shrinkage in Cost of Goods Sold means you think of stolen inventory as a cost of doing business. WRONG. It means you hired the wrong employees and/or don't have good customer security.
