Eight steps for avoiding the burnout trap
For entrepreneurs, burnout is an occupational hazard. In fact, I would go so far as to say that burnout will happen at some point in your career. After all, you are most likely a workaholic. If you follow your natural inclination, you might never leave the office! The truth, of course, is that you love your work; entrepreneurs thrive when they can think on their toes and wrap themselves around the creative processes that lead to economic success. But too much unrelenting hard work comes with a price.

Editor's Note

Most people try to start the New Year with a fresh outlook - toward their family and their relationships, their hobbies and interests, and their job and co-workers. So it might not seem like the right time of the year for us to be featuring an article on burnout. But the nature of burnout is that it can hit you when you least expect it. One day you're happy with your lot, the next day, you find yourself in a downward spiral with no apparent way out. Burnout can hit anyone, at any time.

You can retain control of your life and keep the burnout dragons away by following the steps that have been laid out in our Weekly Earful: Eight steps for avoiding the burnout trap. Read this or listen to the podcast now, while you're feeling good about what is to come in 2008, and the burnout blues will be nothing more than a tune you whistle while you happily go about your life.
