Most employers have been advised to set and communicate clear policies on the use of alcohol at company events.
Employers could end up with legal troubles unless the company can show that it had no control over the situation and had no reason to assume it would occur.
If you plan on celebrating with your employees this year and alcohol will be part of the celebration, we suggest you contact your Human Resource Representative, or your attorney to find out if you can be held liable for the festivities. If you do not have a policy on alcohol at company events, it may be time to incorporate one now.
