Great Plains will acquire Solomon through the issuance of approximately 2,600,000 shares of Great Plains common stock and $35 million in cash.

AICPA Begins New CPE Program

The AICPA has developed a new CPE program designed to award ‘fellow’ status to practitioners who gain 64 credits over a three-year time period, including 16 hours of personal and leadership development courses.The announcement was made during a meeting in Dallas of CPE instructors.The program is expected to begin in September, and was created so that the Institute could increase sales in its training products area.

Andersen Divorce Delayed 90 Days

The arbitrator ruling on the separation of Arthur Andersen and Andersen Consulting has delayed releasing his findings until July 31. A decision on the split was due by the end of April.A quick end to the proceedings seemed likely after Consulting chief Joe Forehand said he was prepared to enter round-table discussions with Arthur Andersen.But a spokesperson for Andersen said that nothing further had been pursued down this path. He also warned that the profession may well hear more about the divorce from the arbitrator before the end of July.
