Ernst & Young LLP moved into the number one spot on Universum USA's 2008 survey of IDEAL employers for undergraduate business students and jumped eight positions to number four among all undergraduate students. The survey, the largest of its kind in the U.S., included responses of more than 40,000 college students.Ernst & Young rose up the undergraduate business student ranks this year from number three in 2007 to number one in 2008, surpassing Google and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Despite new law, students will scramble to find college loans

In an effort to head off a potential crisis in the availability of student loans, a new law is designed so that students and families continue to have access to funds available through federally backed student loan programs. The Ensuring Continued Access to Student Loans Act of 2008, which President Bush signed into law May 7, allows the federal government to buy loans from lenders and bolster a program that helps low-income students finance college.

After graduation, many students take time for personal pursuits such as travel. That is all well and good - and no doubt deserved.

Accounting school receives $10 million donation

San Diego State University has received a $10 million gift to name the university's nationally recognized school of accountancy the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy. The gift, among the largest in university history, was made by Gertrude Lamden in honor of her late husband who was instrumental in launching SDSU's College of Business Administration."The naming of the School of Accountancy is transformational for San Diego State," said SDSU President Stephen L.
