RSM McGladrey partners with Special Olympics for The PGA McGladrey Team Championship

RSM McGladrey, the fifth largest tax, accounting, and business consulting firm in the U.S., has announced a new partnership with Special Olympics as the official charity of The PGA McGladrey Team Championship. The new partnership will support Special Olympics athletes by providing financial support and opportunities for them to enhance their golf game by participating in certain PGA McGladrey Team Championship events throughout the country.

Plante & Moran elects new managing partner

Plante & Moran, PLLC, announced that Gordon Krater, CPA, has been selected by his partners as the firm's next managing partner, only the sixth managing partner in the firm's 85 year history. Krater's term as managing partner begins on July 1, 2009, as Bill Hermann, CPA, the firm's current managing partner, concludes eight years as leader of the 12th largest certified public accounting and business advisory firm in the country. The Atlanta office of public accounting firm Carr, Riggs & Ingram, LLC, one of the Southeast’s top four accounting and business consulting firms and a top 40 firm nationally, has announced that Jody Lappi has been promoted to manager.A resident of Atlanta and native of Memphis, Tennessee, Lappi joined the firm in 2005 after working with a public accounting firm in Charlottesville, Virginia. She holds a B.B.A. degree in Accounting from the University of Memphis and her CPA designation in Georgia.

Tennessee-based Lattimore Black Morgan & Cain, PC (LBMC), one of the Southeast's largest accounting and business consulting firms, has named Kathy K. Seagrist and Mark S. Worthington as partners in the Knoxville office. Seagrist, a Certified Public Accountant, has diverse experience with a variety of industries and focus in the real estate industry. She works extensively in the tax planning and compliance area of practice for individuals and businesses. Seagrist joined the LBMC team in 1998 and prior to that spent nearly five years with a big four firm.

Chicago area firms announce merger

BIK & Co, LLP, a member of the Russell Bedford International network, announces a series of mergers with other Chicago-area CPA firms.Following the completion of mergers with three other local CPA firms, Russell Bedford's Chicago member, BIK & Co, LLP, has grown into a 10-partner practice.The firm now has more than 50 personnel at its offices in Libertyville and Palatine, Illinois.In February 2008, Folisi, Samz & Company of Schaumburg, IL and Soprano & Associates Ltd. of Arlington Heights, IL joined BIK. Then in June, BIK merged with Bayer, Kolof & Lev of Northbrook, IL.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury established the Advisory Committee on the Auditing Profession to develop recommendations to ensure the "sustainability of a strong and vibrant public company auditing profession." The Committee's blue-ribbon membership was drawn from a wide range of professions and experiences.

For the ninth consecutive year, employees at Boston-based accounting and consulting firm, Feeley & Driscoll, P.C., had a choice. Instead of going to work, they could help their community, and many picked up hammers and nails and worked on houses for Habitat for Humanity.Over the years, on many days and evenings, in addition to the annual community service day, the staff has volunteered for Habitat of Greater Lawrence.

KPMG International has announced that Sean Foley was named leader of KPMG’s Global Transfer Pricing Services (GTPS) practice for the Americas region. Foley is a member of KPMG LLP (U.S.) and is based in the Washington, D.C. office.In this new role, Foley will provide guidance to KPMG's transfer pricing practices in the North, Central and South American member firms and work to coordinate KPMG's member firm transfer pricing services to global clients in the Americas region.
