KPMG sponsorship brings baseball to inner city children in Los Angeles

Major League Baseball will host the 16th annual Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI) World Series presented by KPMG at venues throughout the Los Angeles area, including the MLB Urban Youth Academy in Compton, California, August 6-17. The RBI World Series is the championship round of the RBI program, the Major League Baseball youth baseball and softball initiative presented by KPMG LLP. "As we launch the 16th annual RBI World Series, it is important to note that these games feature more than just great baseball and softball," said Allan H. (Bud) Selig, Commissioner of Baseball.

Jacquelyn Busekrus joins Brown Smith Wallace as intern in the Financial Advisory Services Group. Busekrus will be responsible for a variety of projects including financial analysis, report writing, data entry and research for the Financial Advisory Services Group. Prior to joining Brown Smith Wallace, Busekrus served as an intern at Anders, Minkler & Diehl, LLP where she did research, data entry, financial analysis and tax preparation.

Oklahoma public accounting firms merge

Eide Bailly LLP has announced that Murrell, Hall, McIntosh & Co., PLLP (MHM), an Oklahoma City- and Norman-based CPA firm, is joining its regional public accounting and business advisory practice, effective Aug. 1, 2008, making the new firm one of the largest CPA firms in the state of Oklahoma. Eide Bailly is a Top 25 CPA firm in the nation; this union brings its total staff to more than 1,000, of which 137 are partners. The Firm's total revenues this year were $114 million.

Grant Thornton tops Public Accounting Report Q2 audit rankings

Grant Thornton LLP, one of the six global, accounting, tax and business advisory organizations and U.S. member firm of Grant Thornton International Ltd., was awarded first place in the Public Accounting Report's (PAR) second quarter audit rankings. Grant Thornton's rank marks the first time one of the four largest accounting firms has not won PAR's quarterly audit ranking.
