Baltimore area firms merge

Gorfine, Schiller & Gardyn PA, an Owings Mills, MD-based certified public accounting firm, has announced a merger with the accounting division of Smart and Associates in Towson, MD, the firm formerly known as Grabush, Newman & Co. Deloitte is building new learning campus

Deloitte LLP has announced that it will invest approximately $300 million in the creation of a state-of-the-art learning and leadership development center in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area in Westlake, TX. Construction on the new facility will begin in 2009 and the center is expected to open in 2011.The facility will serve as a central destination for all of Deloitte's talent, including everyone from new hires to senior leadership to partners, principals, and directors. The 750,000-square-foot campus will have 800 guest rooms.

Accountants teach financial skills to elementary school students

For the second year, Beers + Cutler is lending its support to Westlawn Elementary School through the firm's participation in Junior Achievement's "JA in a Day" initiative -- a unique program that allows volunteers to teach all seven units of Junior Achievement's (JA) elementary school programs in an intensive one-day experience.More than 100 Beers + Cutler partners, staff and interns spent June 11th at Westlawn introducing students to the fundamentals of financial literacy including saving, budgeting and banking.

New Jersey CPAs donate $200,000 to childrens' charities
