KPMG launches Future Diversity Leaders program

As part of its continuing effort to increase and support minority representation in the accounting profession, KPMG LLP, the audit, tax, and advisory firm, has announced the launch of its Future Diversity Leaders (FDL) program, an initiative designed to provide leadership training and financial support for outstanding minority undergraduate business students. Each year, 50 students are chosen for the KPMG's FDL program, which was recently awarded a 2007 "Innovations in Diversity Award" by Profiles in Diversity Magazine.

IBM & PwC to pay more than $5.2 million to settle kickback complaints

IBM Corporation and PricewaterhouseCoopers have together agreed to pay the United States more than $5.2 million to settle allegations that the companies solicited and provided improper payments and other things of value on technology contracts with government agencies, the Justice Department announced last week.

CPAmerica International network announces new growth

Four large regional CPA firms have joined the membership of CPAmerica International during the first half of 2007.The new member firms include two from Alabama, one from Ohio and one from Texas. Together, they employ nearly 200 staff members. Anglin Reichmann Snellgrove & Armstrong, PC, with offices in Huntsville, Ala., and Packer Thomas, with offices in Youngstown, Ohio and New Castle, Pa., signed on as members in early January. In March, Birmingham, Ala.-based Donaldson, Holman & West, P.C., joined the network.
