Rhode Island Firms Combine Offices

The merger of two Rhode Island accounting firms makes DiSanto, Priest & Co. one of the largest in the smallest state in the union.DiSanto, Priest & Co. announced the aquisition, effective Jan. 1, with Pirolli, Deller & Conaty. The companies did not disclose financial terms. The company hopes to use the added strength to gain market share on the major firms working in the region, the Providence Journal reported Wednesday.The merger creates an accounting and consulting firm with 33 CPA’s, more than 50 accounting professionals and 77 total staff, according to spokesman John J.

New York Firms Merge

The Bonadio Group, a Rochester accounting and business consulting firm, announced today that it has merged with Loguidice and Kamide, an accounting and tax service firm in Syracuse. Financial terms were not disclosed.The merger is part of Bonadio's growth strategy to become a regional CPA and advisory firm."This merger represents another step toward our vision of becoming upstate New York's first mega-regional accounting firm," said Thomas F. Bonadio, managing partner, in a prepared printed statement.

Development Key to Retaining Ambitious Staff

Ambitious employees expect to have to jump ship in the New Year, but better development opportunities could keep them where they are, according to a new poll.Research for Investors in People (IIP) shows that nearly half of employees (48%) feel they deserve to be promoted within six months, but 60% feel they will have to switch organizations to progress their career.Over half (53%) of employees questioned said that their organization’s approach to promotion remains a mystery, and more than three quarters (77%) were unsure of how development in their role was linked to promotion prospect
