Internet Tip: Backup Your Bookmarks!!

Avoid the perils of a frustrating and disastrous system crash by backing up your Internet bookmarks as faithfully as you do (or should do) your computer's hard drive. If you use Internet Explorer 4.x and 5.x, hit [Ctrl+B] to open the "Organize Favorites" window. Right click on a "favorites" folder and choose "Send to" and save the folder to a backup disk. If you use Netscape Navigator 4.x, hit [Ctrl+B] to open the "Bookmarks" window. Select the "File" menu and choose "Save as." Save the bookmark.htm file to a backup disk.

File 1099 Forms On-Line

Grand Rapids, MI--Greatland Corporation and Nelco announce a new service, CyFiler™, for the filing of 1099 information reporting forms over the Internet. The service allows any issuer of 1099 forms to complete them on-line at www.cyfiler.com. Forms are then electronically transmitted to the IRS by Greatland, who also mails a paper copy of each form to the payer and recipient. The CyFiler web site currently supports the electronic filing of forms 1099-MISC, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-S, and 1099-A.

Israeli CPA Institute Opposes Reciprocity

Tony Hillman, president of the Israeli Institute of CPAs (ICPAI), informed attendees at the group's Jerusalem meeting, that the ICPAI would most likely oppose any reciprocity allowing accountants outside of Israel to practice within the state.The opposed statement will be given, Hillman said, to the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), calling for the "wholesale opening up of the world accountancy market."The IFAC asked member Institutes like ICPAI to present their official positions.
