To help deal with some of the confusion surrounding failed dotcoms, the booming ASP (Application Service Provider) marketplace and its own .NET strategy, Microsoft has announced that it has re-engineered its Certified Solutions Provider Program.
The announcement was made at the fall Internet World show in New York City. The new name is Certified Partner and the name was chosen in support of the company's huge network of partners and its ongoing relationship with them to foster business.
In fact, Microsoft also announced it will invest more than $1 billion in partner relationships in 2001. The strategy is designed to integrate partners with customers.
It is reported that Microsoft actually makes little revenue from directly selling its Windows systems, Office software or other programs. Actually, an overwhelming 96 percent of the company's revenues come from its partner programs.
