New Directory Tracks Booming Consulting Industry

Hot off the presses is the Directory of Management Consultants 2000, which tracks the incredible growth of the management consulting industry featuring profiles of 1,891 consulting firms and listings of 7,658 key principals in 98 industries and 118 services offered.

Kennedy Information, publisher of the directory, reports that the use of consultants has increased due to the pace of business change combined with the 'performance now' corporate mantra.

According to the directory, the most popular industries served by management consultants are Manufacturing - 24 percent, High Technology - 20.5 percent, Banking/Finance - 16.8 percent, Healthcare - 16.0 percent, and Services - 15.7 percent.

The directory tracks independent one-owner shops to the Big 5 consulting firms including strategy boutiques, compensation and benefits firms, and information technology firms. Thirty-one percent of the firms listed claim to be generalists.

The directory also contains articles including How to Select a Management Consulting Firm, Why Some Consulting Projects Fail (and how to Avoid Failure), and How to Get Value From a Consultant.

Tip: There's no fee for a firm to be listed - if your firm offers consulting services, make sure you are among those listed in the next directory.
