I am a Canadian citizen living in Taiwan. I trade stocks on the New York Stock Exchange through an online brokerage firm located in the United States.

I have duly filed a Form W-8BEN.

Am I required to file a tax return with the IRS?

You are not usually required to file a tax return with the IRS unless you are a citizen or a resident; however you may be required to report the income on your Canadian return. Contact a Canadian tax professional for additional help.
