What Are You Reading?

Since I’m primarily a technology blogger, I’d like to first mention my new Amazon Kindle 2 device.  I travel about 100,000 miles a year, and until recently, I had to carry books in my luggage if I wanted to read.  While this may not seem like a big deal, two hardback books can really weigh you down when you start spending a lot of time on the road.  My Kindle keeps all of my books online, and even gets the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times wirelessly over its built-in wireless modem every morning.  It’s really a beautiful tool for transferring information into your brain, and much more lightweight than a laptop.  Much has been said about the new text to speech feature on the Kindle, and I honestly haven’t had much time to listen to it as of yet.  (I can, however, report that you can get hundreds of free books which are in the public domain by visiting http://www.mobileread.com/mobiguide in your Kindle’s browser (under “Experimental”, then “Basic Web” off of the Home menu).  I’ve downloaded a number of classic titles from there, and plan to revisit some of these titles and see if I appreciate them more in my old age.

I’m currently reading, and would like to recommend two books on my new Amazon Kindle 2 device.  Everyone should try to laugh a little and improve a little every day, so I’m recommending two books to help you to just that.  They are Dress Your Family in Corduroy & Denim by David Sedaris, and Dale Carnegie’s classic, “How to Win Friends and Influence People”.  I also just started a book on politics/current events, but I’m not far enough into it yet to decide if I would recommend it to others, so I won’t pass judgment.
