Illinois CPA Society offers scholarships to accounting students

Faced with rising costs and fewer funding sources, college students who are pursuing a degree in accounting and planning to become Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) can apply to the Illinois CPA Society for scholarships of up to $4,000 to cover tuition, books and fees.

Applications are due by November 15, 2008 and can be completed online. Candidates for all available scholarships must be U.S. citizens permanently residing in Illinois, students at an Illinois college or university and planning to sit for the CPA examination. Applicants must demonstrate achievement and financial need. For more information and to apply, visit theSociety Web site or contact the Illinois CPA Society's Scholarship Coordinator at 312-993-0407, extension 216.

The Society offers a number of different scholarships designed to meet the unique needs of today's students, including:

  • The Herman J. Neal Scholarships: Available to African-American accounting students in their junior or senior year, as well as their final or 5th year, including graduate studies.

  • Book Scholarships: Reimburses students for text book expenses.

The scholarship program is funded by the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois, which is supported by members of the Illinois CPA Society as part of their continuing efforts to give back to the community and support the future of the profession.
