Tax Season Commitment
Posted by Anonymous on 02/02/2008 - 18:25
Now that "Busy Season" has begun in our firm, I'm expected to work every evening Monday through Thursday, even though I'm more of a "morning person" and would rather do my extra time at 5 a.m. I've explained this to the partners, but they just think I'm a slacker. What should I do?

Tax Season Commitment
Anyone who thinks you're a slacker because you want to work at 5 am is an idiot!!
I can't believe your firm wants to regulate your working hours so tightly. As my friend Ron Baker says - trying to manage knowledge workers in that manner is like trying to herd cats.
Please learn about firms that respect knowledge workers for who they are.Visit the VeraSage Institute at www.VeraSage.com
I have the mind...
I have the mind that, if you knew the job requirements up front, then you're really sunk. However, with all the current talk of flex time, telecommutting, etc, they could be a more flexable. Nowadays, one size doesn't fit all.
