Accountants pick next President!

In an unscientific poll of accountants and others associated with the accounting profession, AccountingWEB has determined the lead candidates from the current pool of those running for president.

AccountingWEB conducted the public poll in which visitors to the site cast their vote over a two-week period in late September and early October, 2007. Only one vote was allowed from each IP address.

AccountingWEB would like to stress the fact that it has no political affiliation with any candidate or national party and does not intend to take an editorial stance with regard to this election.

"We at AccountingWEB understand that these results do not necessarily correlate to the results one might see if the actual election were held today, however we can say with confidence that our readers, and therefore, one would assume, the poll participants, represent a cross-section of the American voting public," said Rob Nance, AccountingWEB publisher.

The poll produced the following results:

Democrats:

Hillary Clinton - 50%
Barack Obama – 23%
John Edwards - 14%
Joe Biden - 5%
Dennis Kucinich – 3%
Bill Richardson – 3%
Chris Dodd - 1%
Other Demo. – 1%
Mike Gravel – 0%

Republicans:

Fred Thompson – 31%
Rudy Giuliani – 25%
Mitt Romney – 14%
John McCain – 12%
Mike Huckabee – 6%
Ron Paul – 6%
Sam Brownback – 3%
Duncan Hunter – 2%
Other Repub. – 2%
Tom Tancredo – 1%

Accountants Pick President
I's not sure that the results of the poll prove that accountants are any better informed on the issues important to business than the public at large.

On business issues, it seems to me that Mitt Romney and Bill Richardson should do much better than they do in the poll.
