NAEA discusses complaints

NAEA Sr. Director, Government Relations, Bob Kerr and Legislative Assistant Tyler Haskell met Tuesday with senior OPR staff members to discuss the role of the Enrolled Practitioner Program (EPP) office.

NAEA heard complaints from many members this spring about the enrollment renewal and EA application processes. Due in part to the information NAEA provided OPR about this year's processing difficulties, OPR has decided to initiate a full review of the EPP unit, and intends to make some changes to streamline its operation.

Johnson explained how renewal applications are processed, and acknowledged that the workflow is not ideally efficient. NAEA's GR staff offered their input and the perspective of enrolled agents.

In April, NAEA then-President Lois Manning, EA, sent a letter to OPR Director Michael Chesman expressing the frustration of EAs who wait several months to hear back regarding their enrollment renewal applications.
