Carrying an all-in-one appliance may get easier than ever before, thanks to a partnership between Motorola and Palm.

The integrated phone would function as a telephone and personal organizer, and would have a color screen that would be larger than typical cell phones, yet smaller than the Palm screens on stand-alone organizers.

The two companies are competing with Nokia, Ericsson and Microsoft, all of whom are reported to be developing similar devices. The popularity speaks for itself: a research group out of Boston predicts there will be more than one billion Web-enabled mobile devices by 2003.
