Steven P. Bryde joins ERE LLP

Looking to expand its State and Local Tax (SALT) practice, ERE LLP, a New York-based accounting and consulting firm, has brought in Steven P. Bryde, an expert in SALT taxation. He joins the firm as principal, tax services.

"Steven is an excellent addition to our already strong team of tax professionals," said Ira Rubenstein, ERE's managing partner. "His considerable experience is an important new resource in helping our clients reduce their tax burdens and strategically plan for growth."

As state and local taxation continues to erode businesses' profit margins, a man with Bryde's expertise can have a real impact on the company's bottom line, according to the company. With more than 30 years of experience as a tax attorney advising on international and individual tax, as well as multi-state tax issues, he helps his clients to reduce their effective state and local tax rates, recoup tax overpayments, avoid tax penalties, and plan for the geographic expansion of their businesses.

Bryde's most recent professional background has focused his expertise in multi-state tax consulting. Among his accomplishments in this area, he represented a $6.8 billion public advertising agency, including successfully representing the company for corporate income tax audit defense in California, and New York State and City. His representation of this taxpayer resulted in a combined tax savings of $6 million.

Bryde also litigated an Article 32 bank tax case for a major New York-based bank, including representing the bank at an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) trial, plus filing pre- and post-trial briefs, and handling briefing and oral arguments on appeal to the NYS Tax Appeals Tribunal.

Bryde is a member of the Westchester County Association and was the president of the World Trade Council of Westchester from 2003-2006. He is admitted to New York State Supreme Court, Federal District Court (Southern and Eastern Districts) and U.S. Tax Court. He is a member of the Tax Sections of the American, New York State, and Westchester County Bar Associations. He received his Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law, and a B.A. in Economics, summa cum laude, from Fordham University.
