Meyers Brothers Kalicka announces important memberships and appointments for several of its partners:

James W. Barrett, CPA/PFS, MST, managing partner of Meyers Brothers Kalicka, PC, has been admitted as a member of the Western New England chapter of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO). The YPO is a global network of young chief executives whose mission is to build effective leaders through the exchange of ideas, best practices, and education.

In addition to his responsibilities as managing partner of the firm, Barrett, who holds a Masters Degree in Taxation and a Personal Financial Specialist credential, serves clients in the tax and wealth management divisions of Meyers Brothers Kalicka. He also serves as treasurer on the executive committee of the Massachusetts Chamber of Business and Industry, a state-wide organization that provides information, education, management, and advocacy on behalf of industry.

Kristina Drzal Houghton, CPA, MST has been admitted as a member of the Springfield chapter of the Women Presidents' Organization (WPO). The WPO is an international network of women entrepreneurs that functions to improve business opportunities for women business owners. The organization's professionally-facilitated peer advisory groups encompass the 4 C's of WPO: collaboration, confidentiality, commitment, and connections.

A CPA and partner-in-charge of the Taxation Division of the firm, Houghton has a Masters Degree in Taxation and provides services in tax compliance and planning for individuals and closely held businesses. Houghton is heavily active in the Greater Springfield community as sponsor representative and executive board member of the UMass Family Business Center, treasurer of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra and the Springfield Tax Club, and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Springfield Boys & Girls Club.

David A. Kalicka, CPA has been named a corporator for the Mason-Wright Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that supports the Mason-Wright Retirement Community in Springfield, MA. The mission of Mason-Wright Retirement Community, and its Foundation, is to ensure that seniors in the Springfield metropolitan area have the opportunity for independent and dignified lives, regardless of their economic resources.

A CPA with a Masters Degree in Taxation, Kalicka specializes in income and estate tax planning for the firm's high net worth clients. His expertise also includes representing clients on audits by the Internal Revenue Service and state taxing authorities. Kalicka currently serves on the Board of the National Conference for Community and Justice of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts and is a trustee of the Holyoke Community College Endowment Foundation. He is on the professional advisory committees of Baystate Health Foundation and The Community Foundation, and is a corporator of People's Bank.

Lisa A. Patenaude, CPA has been named as Treasurer of the Board of Directors for Goodwill Industries of the Pioneer Valley. A not-for-profit organization with eight retail stores in the Pioneer Valley, Goodwill Industries serves individuals with disabilities and other disadvantages, with programs that include workforce development, family support, residential-living placements, and partnerships with local companies that outsource jobs in the agency.

A CPA and co-director of the firm's Health Care Services Division, Patenaude specializes in providing tax, accounting, and consultative services to medical and dental practices, including but not limited to practice valuations, physician compensation analyses, staffing revenue enhancement, procedural costing and physician billing systems. She also services clients in the manufacturing, real estate, retail, construction, and personal service industries.
