Xero (@Xero) announced on March 11 that it is partnering with Shopify (@Shopify), an industry leading commerce platform that allows anyone to easily sell online, at their retail location, and everywhere in between. The partnership allows Shopify merchants to seamlessly track the impact of sales on their business financials, frees up time spent on manual data entry, and minimizes the frustrations created by working with two separate systems.
Until now, there hasn’t been a seamless integration for Shopify’s merchants who were using Xero to handle their back office accounting needs. The partnership will allow for the seamless transfer of a Shopify merchant’s ecommerce storefront, point of sale, and mobile transactions (including sales, tax, shipping costs and refunds) directly from Shopify to Xero, enabling real-time, easy bank reconciliation, and an accrual accounting view of a small business’s books. Additionally, the ‘mapping’ of Shopify merchant data to Xero’s Chart of Accounts creates a common language between the two systems, providing for additional reduction in back office administration.
“Xero Everywhere” delivers small business tools and insights through a beautiful interface, on all major platforms, devices, tablets and mobile phones. This makes it simple and easy for business owners to stay in touch with their numbers and, with Xero’s smartphone app and new iPad app, customers can now manage their business finances wherever they are.
Comments on the News:
- “Shopify has built a best-in-class multi-channel commerce platform for small businesses and is an ideal partner for Xero as we continue to serve the needs of owners around the globe,” said James Maiocco, GM, business and corporate development, Xero. “We are continuing to innovate and raise the bar to better support small businesses, an often under-served, yet vitally important sector of the world economy.”
- "Xero, like Shopify, is dedicated to helping small business owners and entrepreneurs run their companies more efficiently," said Harley Finkelstein, chief platform officer, Shopify. "Bookkeeping is a pain point for many merchants, which is why this partnership is so important. The integration will enable real-time visibility into a store's sales and finances, which frees up time to focus on growing their businesses."
