The New Abnormal

Hi. I’m Caleb and I’m new around here.

Which isn’t completely true. I mean, occasionally I drop by when I manage to sneak out of the non-stop frat party over at Going Concern, but I’m mostly a wallflower over there. I’m happy to say that I’ve been given express permission (or explicit orders, if you like)  to wander over here to Accounting Web more often.

Why is that, you might ask? My job is to replace the irreplaceable Gail Perry as the Editor-in-Chief. What does that mean? I don’t really know! I think it’ll be fun getting a feel for things, throwing in my own thoughts here and there, and listening to the discussions you’re having about the accounting profession.

It’s a profession that I’ve been hanging around for over 10 years now and I’ve developed some opinions about it -- some you might like, some you might not like -- but it’ll be fun getting to know each other and having spirited discussions. Why? Because it’s fun. I hope you don’t mind fun.

Of course we’ll still be bringing the most important accounting and tax news to you daily, you’ll hear different voices from our slew of bloggers, and more Excel tips than you can possibly imagine.

Good talk. See you out there.

Congratulations Caleb! It will be interesting to watch how your way of bringing sensationalism to the world of accounting and auditing ...(which I personally find sensational, but in a more theoretical way)... may now be reflected in GoingConcern's older sibling, AccountingWEB. What's next in the world of news, Amazon buying the Washington Post? Oh yeah, that happened... Best wishes in your new position, and while I don't personally write in tabloid style, I do admit to reading them, and I look forward to reading more from both of your publications!

Welcome aboard, Caleb. I don't mind fun at all. Glad to hear you like fun because accountants are often stereotyped as having personalities of morticians. Keep 'em laughing, I always say, especially when they are about to write a check.
