Even though any accounting auditor would tell you it seems like there are an awful lot of tax accountants out there, surely one-third of the country isn't made up of tax preparers, so it's rather startling news to learn that one-third of Americans like to do their taxes. Who knew?
I don't know anyone besides me who likes doing taxes. Even my friends who enjoy working with numbers worry about making a mistake and incurring the wrath of the IRS and so would rather pay someone to add their signature to the bottom of the 1040. In fairness, the survey results reflect the fact that the highest percentage of people who claim to enjoy the tax task have low income and are expecting refunds, but even then, I would think they would want to hire a pro to make sure they get the highest amount of refund possible.
